Expression
WHAT
A retrospective exhibition featuring the works of the Chinese contemporary artist over the past three decades, the presentation is also a reflection of society and time, acting as a mirror for each viewer to see a unique reflection. Over 100 works are on display, including figure portraits from the 1990s – early 2000s; portraits of everyday objects from the 2000s – early 2010s; and abstract portraits from early 2010s – present.
WHY
The retrospective is not only a survey of Zhang’s oeuvres, but also a journey to experience the profound feelings, emotions, and expressions conveyed through his works. His unique ability to convey emotions through changes in colours, directions, and thickness in his lines offers a distinct perspective on portraiture. The exhibition is a must-see for anyone interested in exploring the artistic evolution of Zhang Enli.
