WHAT

The exhibition is the gallery’s 2022 inaugural programme. Exploring the depiction of the cyclical nature of life, the show features works of post-war and contemporary masters such as Bernard Buffet, Francoise Gilot, Jeff Koons, and Yayoi Kusama, while paintings from Ding Yi, Liang Ying, Ni Youyu, and Tang Yongxiang spotlight the rise of Chinese artistic voices. These are complemented with contemporary works by Huma Bhabha, Marilyn Minter, Elizabeth Neel, Betty Woodman, and Zhang Zipiao, offering visitors an extensive aesthetic journey.

WHY

With masterful depictions of the natural world and the cosmos through its curated presentation of works from the 20th and 21st centuries, the show is a diverse selection of both Asian and Western masterpieces by male as well as female artists.  It showcases the contributions of canonical figures in art history such as Françoise Gilot and Yayoi Kusama while spotlighting the achievements of Chinese painters such as Ding Yi, Liang Ying, Ni Youyu, and Tang Yongxiang. Drawing on the prior gallery programmes of LGDR’s founding partners, Eternal Seasons also features works by Huma Bhabha, Marilyn Minter, Elizabeth Neel, Betty Woodman, and Zhang Zipiao.
