Cycle of Bloom with Hare Ke

December 28, 2022 - January 31, 2023

WHAT
The title of this exhibition “ハレケ 와 마른 꽃” in Japanese and Korean marks the identity of their creators – Japanese artist, Ayumi Adachi, and Korean artist, Zongson Zang. Having met in Hong Kong in 2009, they focus on art expression in the city with a perfectly-synced harmonious rapport. The current exhibition showcases Adachi’s colourful 3D recycled sculpture installations alongside Zang’s 2D abstract-geometric paintings, all of which address the cycle of life. The artworks reference the passage of time, alluding to relationships between individuals and the power of destiny.

WHY
Taking place at PMQ’s most recently-opened gallery, the dual exhibition is an immersive installation that engages and delights audiences. Crumpled lined paper draped over walls and hanging from the ceiling provides the perfect setting, with the lines on the paper referencing the axis of ‘Kasana 刹那 (Setsuna)’, a metaphor for the bridges at various different points of life to express the complicated circumstances that one might encounter.
