WHAT
Partnering with RMIT University, the exhibition is a presentation of the Hong Kong Art School’s Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) Graduate Exhibition, showcasing the works of 31 graduates and aspiring artists. With paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photography, installations, and performance art – each graduate’s perspective and method are presented, showcasing their insights and reflections on our contemporary society and culture.
WHY
Titled after the Italian slang word that refers to retired people who spend their days watching construction workers and giving them unsolicited advice, the exhibition sets the stage for the artists’ reflection on objectivity in the viewing and making of art. Furthermore, the Chinese title refers to ancient literati who roamed around gardens drinking and writing poems – expressing their opinion even if they were overlooked by most people. Viewers will appreciate the chance to see works from the newest generation of local talent.
