Hold Infinity in the Palm of Your Hand
WHAT
Fascinated by the theatrical history of ancient Greece and Greek mythology, the Italian artist is fond of presenting her emotions and childhood memories on her palm-sized paintings. Inspired by Italian traditional cultural heritages, myths and classical art, the show features Sartore’s miniature oil paintings from recent years, incorporating elements from Chinese antiques, while a group of palm-sized antiques will be on display.
WHY
Intrigued by the title of the exhibition? Taken from William Blake’s poem, it poses the philosophical question of ‘seeing a world in a grain of sand’. By extracting figures and symbols, deconstructing and reassembling relationships between people and objects from the original myths, these miniature paintings guide the viewer into overly sacred and intriguing stories, leaving much room for interpretation and imagination.
