WHAT WE KNOW

Having Hong Kong roots and an endless passion for ink art bind these 19 artists together. Contrary to the common association of ink art with classical subjects and vertical scroll presentations, these artists expand upon that vision in a contemporary manner, and use art to communicate their emotions about the ever-changing world around us. Every piece displayed is a testament to these unique social experiences.

WHY WE LOVE IT

Curators Katherine Don and Tobias Berger have selected a diverse collection of works that chronicles the history of Hong Kong. Although ink is the underlying theme, each piece expands upon that foundation in a different and unique manner. You will see vivid colours but also black and white pieces; you will find abstraction but also realism. Presented in JC Contemporary’s expansive space, this exhibition truly expounds upon all the possibilities of ink.
