Honouring Tradition & Heritage: Min Chiu Society
WHAT
Founded in 1960 by a group of Chinese collectors from Shanghai and Hong Kong, the Min Chiu Society is a private gentlemen’s group dedicated to the appreciation of Chinese art. In celebrating its 60th anniversary with the theme of longevity, more than 300 works of art selected from its members’ world-renowned private collections are on display, reflecting the artistic and cultural taste of the Chinese imperial courts through the generations.
WHY
With exquisite and rare Chinese ceramics, finely-carved lacquer ware, delicately-woven textiles and fine jade carvings – to name a few – the exhibition is thematically presented to give a good overview of the skills that artisans of the Chinese court possessed. Animated clips & augmented reality technology provide extra touches that are both educational and engaging. In addition, we love the special pop-up section, which is designed as a traditional scholar’s studio.
