WHAT
The artist’s first solo exhibition at the gallery involves a central piece that consists of blue and white porcelain vessels hanging from the ceiling, containing microphones that amplify each vessel’s unique sound. As visitors walk by, their movements activate motion sensors which trigger the sounds, creating an immersive experience. The sound itself evolves every second, but the harmony never changes. Around the central piece are works from the artist’s ‘Recomposition’ series, which contain the same blue and white ceramics scattered into pieces.

WHY
The presentationi is a dramatic and ritualistic one. The contrast between ‘resurrection’ in the middle and the environs’ ‘falling-apart’ retells the journey of these porcelains, and the shared fate of any cultural artifact. By manifesting the constant harmony in the central sound piece, the artist invites audiences to observe the changes that occur with time. Audiences will be immersed in this journey as they experience and explore the nuances in the sounds.
