Quintessence of Imperial Kiln Porcelain

December 10, 2021 - March 6, 2022

WHAT

In the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), the Chinese court used a large scale of ceramics for purposes ranging from decorative, utilitarian, to ritualistic. The Ming imperial court had set up royal kilns in Jingdezhen to develop royal porcelain, which was strictly for the use of the imperial family. Their fabrication featured strict management systems in all aspects, from design and production to inspection. Hailing from the Palace Museum in Beijing – known for having the largest and finest collection of imperial porcelain – the current presentation of 120 pieces is from the reigns of Ming emperors Hongwu to Wanli (1368–1620).

WHY

The presentation showcases the incredible skill and talent of the artisans working in the royal kilns of Jingdezhen during that the Ming dynasty. Aside from the auction exhibitions, it is rare to find such a comprehensive collection available for public viewing.
