Iván Navarro: Cyclops
WHAT
The New York-based Chilean artist (b.1972) navigates the gallery’s Paris space with a luminous odyssey between myth, cosmos and power. Renowned for his light works, a series of 14 electric sculptures is displayed, transforming the gallery with hypnotic optical effects. Oscillating between celestial phenomena and reflections on power relations, viewers are offered an intense sensory and symbolic immersion.
WHY
The exhibition is named after the highlight of the exhibition – a monumental sculpture of a 3.6 metre-high cyclops, which radiates under the glass roof with its multi-coloured recycled neon lights. The artist has designed a piece intended to interact with natural light for the first time. An allegory of natural forces, the sculpture extends the artist’s inquiries into energy and the invisible.
